Financial Literacy Sessions Offered at North Island College

Finances are among the main concerns during this pandemic. The shocking reality of people and finances must be told to many people mired in debt.

The financial health of Canadians tells a poor and shocking story:

• 55 percent of Canadians face inappropriate numeracy skills

• Only 46 percent of Canadians have a budget.

• 4 in 10 Canadians say money is a daily concern

A national non-profit literacy organization, ABC Life Literacy Canada is in the Comox Valley to help Canadian adults improve their money management skills.

Money Matters is a free introductory financial literacy program for adult learners.

The workbooks are used in classrooms across Canada and are packed with learning and activities that can be adapted to suit the needs of each group. Workshops can be facilitated by staff from each community group delivering the program and / or with the support of local TD Bank volunteer tutors.

North Island College will be hosting Money Matters sessions on October 28 and Financial Literacy Month in November.
